The 30 teams participating in the 2018 World Cup in Russia who have an official Facebook page have a cumulative 66 million "likes" on the social network, as of 04/12/2017. This represented an average of 2.2 million likes for each of the 30 national teams (Saudi Arabia and Iran do not have an official Facebook page).

Between them, the CBF (11.97 million "likes") and the Mexican national team (11.2 million) comprise more than a third of the total likes of teams qualified for the final phase of the World Cup, as of 04/12/2017. At the other end of the scale, Iceland (100,064 likes, for a population of 334,000), Russia -- the host country -- (79,524), and Senegal (11,459) bring up the rear.

On the social network Twitter, 30 participating teams have a certified account (Sweden and Tunisia do not) and have a cumulative total of 34.3 million followers, as of 01/12/2017. This represents an average of 1.14 million followers for each of the 30 national teams.
