Twitter: 64.4 million followers in total for the 20 clubs of LaLiga Santander (December 2017)

The 20 clubs involved in the 2017-18 LaLiga Santander season have a cumulative total of 64.4 million followers on the social network Twitter, according to data collected by News Tank Football on 01/12/2017. This figure makes LaLiga Santander the second most popular European league on Twitter, with an average of 3.22 million followers per club behind the Premier League (3.37 million).

Real Madrid is the most followed club of LaLiga Santander with 27.7 million followers, ahead of FC Barcelona (25.8 million). The two Spanish clubs are the only two in Europe to have more than 25 million followers (only the main account is taken into consideration) and accumulate 83.12% of the total followers of LaLiga Santander clubs, more together than the 58 Serie A clubs, Ligue 1 Conforama and Bundesliga combined (53.53 million followers versus 49.38 million).

CD Leganés, which passed the 200,000 followers mark in November 2017, is the LaLiga Santander club with the best percentage growth on Twitter with 4.8% additional followers.
