Qatar 2022: FIFPro call for boycott of World Cup if it is played in the summer

FIFPro (International Federation of Professional Footballers) has called for a boycott of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar if it is played in the summer, announced the international union, on the 15/10/2014.

"We will not play in the summer in Qatar," said Philippe Piat, the only candidate for the presidency of the organisation, whose election will take place at the FIFPro Congress, on the 22/10/2013 in Ljubljana (SLO).

"Playing in Qatar when it’s 45-50 degrees Celsius is not serious, and not only for the 22 players. There are others people involved, like the tourists. We informed FIFA (Federation Internationale de Football Association) and the European confederation (UEFA, Union of European Football Associations) that we would not play in the summer in Qatar," said Philippe Piat.
