La Liga: Real Madrid in talks to sell the naming rights of Santiago Bernabeu

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has confirmed that the club is currently in talks to sell the naming rights of the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium (85,000 seats), on the 15/10/2013.

"We are working to find a sponsor for the stadium. We are at work, we want to add a partner to the existing name," said Florentino Perez, president of Real Madrid. The Santiago Bernabeu Stadium has been Real Madrid's home since 1947.

The selling of the naming rights would help fund the renovation of the Bernabeu stadium. Upgrades will cost between € 300 and € 400 million. In October 2012, during the last general meeting, the club unveiled the four competing renovation projects. Real Madrid want to increase capacity by 10,000 seats to accommodate 95,000 spectators. "The decision as to which candidate will redevelop Santiago Bernabeu will be revealed at the end of October. If they hurry, maybe we can start work in the summer of 2014... I am committed to providing the best stadium in the world for future generations of fans," said Florentino Perez.
