beIN Sport available for free on the Internet in Canada until the 06/01/2014

Qatari-owned beIN Sport's channels have been available in Canada for free via Internet streaming, since the 06/10/2013. The service will be free until the 06/01/2014, and then fee-paying after that date: 24 hours for $5 Canadian dollars (CAD) or €3.60, $12 CAD or €8.60 for a month, and $120 CAD or €86 for one year.

beIN Sport has been broadcast in the United States since August 2012 and seeks to do the same in Canada, where the group has had exclusive rights to broadcast Ligue 1 (FRA), La Liga (SPA) and Serie A (ITA) since 2012. But Canadian law requires the subsidiary, Al Jazeera, to get the support of a broadcaster already established in the local market before they can apply for a broadcasting license from the CRTC (Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission).

To work around this problem, beIN Sport has launched a live online broadcast service, "www.beinsportplay.ca", which allows Canadian-based users access via their computer, tablet or smartphone.
