Australia: Sam Chadwick appointed General Manager of the FFA Cup

Sam Chadwick has been appointed General Manager of the FFA Cup (Football Federation Australia) on the 14/10/2013. The Australian will be responsible for the launch and ongoing operations of the new national competition, the first of which will take place in 2014/15.

The FFA Cup will bring together clubs from the Hyundai A-League (first division), but also semi-professional teams and Australian amateur clubs. Over 700 teams will take part in the competition. The project, announced in 2010, has been repeatedly delayed because of negotiations over television coverage and issues regarding scheduling in relation to other competitions.
