UEFA Champions League website wins award

The official website of the UEFA Champions League has won the "People's Lovie Award" at the British-based Lovie Awards, said UEFA (Union of European Football Associations), on the 15/10/2013. Over 45,000 people voted for the European awards ceremony which honours excellence on the internet.

The site also finished in third place in the "Sports" category. The ceremony, which has taken place every year since 2010, honours the European internet community for initiatives in creativity and content. Trophies are awarded by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences, an international organisation consisting of experts from the web, which helps creative and technical innovations on the internet.

"The UEFA Champions League section has continued to evolve season on season, with key features," said UEFA on the 15/10/2013. "The rise of the UEFA Champions League site has been especially marked on social media" added the European institution. "The competition's official Facebook page has continued to grow, sailing past 13.1 million likes."
