Twitter chooses the New York Stock Exchange for its IPO, scheduled for the 15/11/2013

The microblogging network Twitter has chosen to be listed on the NYSE (New York Stock Exchange), the company announced, on the 15/10/2013. Its IPO is expected by the 15/11/2013.

The social network, founded in San Francisco in 2006, has chosen the NYSE rather than NASDAQ (National Association of Securities Dealers Automated Quotations), the second largest stock market in the United States and benchmark for technology stocks. The main competitor to Twitter, Facebook, has been listed on NASDAQ since the 18/05/2012.

Twitter boasted 231.7 million users on the 30/09/2013, against 218 million on the 30/06/2013, a 6.3% increase in three months. The company has achieved sales over the first nine months of 2013 of $422 million (€309.7 million), having more than doubled in a year, but said it had a net loss of $134 million (€98.3 million). From January to June 2013, Twitter reported a net loss of $69.3 million (€50.9 million) and $80 million (€58.7 million) over the whole of 2012.
