FIFA rankings: Spain remain first, Switzerland up to 7th and to be seeded in World Cup 2014

Spain retain top spot in the monthly rankings released by FIFA on the 17/10/2013. They stay above Germany and Argentina, who have swapped places in the standings, compared to September 2013. Switzerland and England have both moved up seven places to enter the top 10. Switzerland's move to seventh place means they will be seeded in the draw for the 2014 World Cup.

Concerning the draw to be held on the 06/12/2013 in Brazil, Pot One, which will hold the top seeds, will contain Brazil, as well as Spain, Germany, Argentina, Colombia, Belgium and Switzerland. If Uruguay win their intercontinental play-off against Jordan in November, they would also be placed among the top seeds. If Uruguay do not qualify, then Netherlands would become the eight seeds, just ahead of Italy: Netherlands have 1,135.95 points, while Italy are only a few hundredth points behind with 1,135,61 points.
