FIFA (Federation Internationale de Football Association) has invited leaders of the CFA (Cyprus Football Association) and CTFA (Turkish Cypriot Football Association) to meet to "finalise a provisional arrangement on football in Cyprus," the CFA said on the 18/10/2013.

Joseph Blatter, the FIFA president, is calling on both parties to meet at the headquarters of the International Federation, in Zurich (Switzerland), on the 05/11/2013. He himself will be present at this meeting, as well as Michel Platini, president of UEFA (Union of European Football Associations).

"It is expected that at the end of the deliberations, the two delegations will sign a document outlining the steps for the progress of football in the whole of Cyprus, with the approval of FIFA and UEFA," said the CFA.

The island of Cyprus has been split in two since 1974 and the invasion of the north by Turkey, following a Greek coup. Today only Turkey recognises the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. FIFA and UEFA do not recognize the CTFA as a federation.
