Belgium: Fox Sports interested in Jupiler League TV rights say Belgian press

Pay TV channel Fox Sports is interested in the broadcasting rights to the Jupiler League, the Belgian first division, which expire at the end of the 2013/14 season, say local newspapers Le Soir and De Morgen, on the 16/10/2013.

The American television network, a subsidiary of 21st Century Fox is not currently broadcasting in Belgium, but it has acquired the rights to broadcast the Bundesliga, the German championship from 2015/16, on the 14/10/2013.

This acquisition would mean the creation of a Fox Sports channel in Belgium, according to the Belgian press. The Pro League, the Belgian professional football league, has already been made aware of Fox's interest in purchasing the rights to the Jupiler Pro League. Representatives of the association of professional clubs in Belgium have met several times with the U.S. media group.
