NBA: Dallas Mavericks take the name of "DúXíngXiá" in China, after consultation with fans

The Dallas Mavericks will now called "DúXíngXiá" (独行侠) in China and other parts of the world, said the NBA franchise on 03/01/2018. This can be translated into English as "Lone Ranger Heroes".

The term "Maverick" translates into Chinese as "little cow". Mark Cuban, owner of the franchise, posted a video on the Chinese social network Weibo, on 10/09/2017, asking local fans to submit their suggestions for a better translation of the word "Mavericks". The franchise also collaborated with the Tencent Sports video platform to relay this request to as many NBA fans as possible in China.

Over the next two weeks, the Mavericks received 50,000 entries, of which three were selected: "Lone Ranger Heroes", "Fierce Colts", and "Wild Horses". During the month of October 2017, 100,000 people voted, with the majority voting for the first proposal.
