China: Wanda Group considering an IPO for its sports assets (press)

Wanda Group, a Chinese conglomerate active in tourism, hospitality, entertainment, and sports, has contacted several investment banks, in December 2017, about an IPO in Hong Kong (CHN) or the United States for the assets of Wanda Sports Holding, according to the British news agency Reuters on 04/01/2018.

Wanda Sports Holding brings together the assets of the Chinese conglomerate in sports, including the sports marketing agency Infront, the World Triathlon Corporation, the endurance sports division of Lagardère Sports, and 20% of the capital of Club Atlético de Madrid (LaLiga Santander). This stake in the capital of the Spanish club (valued at €67m) would not be affected by the transaction, according to Reuters.

Wanda is also considering opening of the capital of Wanda Sports Holding to other investors, before a possible IPO, according to the press agency, who added that the conglomerate is looking to hire a chief financial officer for its sports division in order to take charge of these potential capital operations.
