Goal-line tech: French LFP temporarily suspends its contract with GoalControl

"The LFP decided to suspend the use of goal-line technology with immediate effect for all matches of the competitions organized by the LFP, in consultation with the technical committee for refereeing and FIFA, informed today. The (German) company GoalControl has also been informed this afternoon," said Didier Quillot, CEO of the LFP, on 11/01/2018.

This announcement follows the failures of goal-line technology that occurred in two of the quarter-finals of Coupe de la Ligue on 10/01/2018. During the Amiens SC - Paris Saint-Germain (0-2) game, the referee's watch did not vibrate at the time of Adrien Rabiot's goal, while during the Angers SCO - Montpellier HSC (0- 1) game, the watch of referee vibrated at a time when the ball had not crossed the goal-line.

"These anomalies are unacceptable and demonstrate that goal-line technology is unreliable in the current version of the GoalControl supplier.
