Tokyo 2020: revised budget of ¥600bn ($5.6bn; €4.4bn), of which 61% from sponsorship

The organising committee of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games (JPN) announced a second version of its budget at ¥600bn (€4.4bn on 08/01/2018) on 22/12/2017. 61% of the budgeted revenue is to come from sponsorship.

"The updated overall Games budget now totals $12.6bn (¥1.35tn, €9.97bn), a reduction of $1.4bn (¥150bn, €1.1bn) compared to version one of the budget (December 2016), and $0.3bn (¥35bn, €258m) less than the interim figure indicated in the 'Overall Division of Roles and Allocation of Costs' agreement reached in May 2017 between Tokyo 2020, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government (TMG), the Japanese government and local governments of cities and prefectures hosting events," said Tokyo 2020.

"The budget comprises two main elements - the 'OCOG' budget, which is the responsibility of Tokyo 2020, and the 'Other Entities' budget, covering expenditure by TMG and the Japanese Government.
