Spain: football programmes record the 18 best TV audiences of 2017, as well as 43 of the 50 best

Football programmes had the 18 best TV audiences of the year 2017 in Spain, and 43 of the 50 best, according to the audience measurement company Kantar Media. In 2016 (year of Euro 2016 in France), the 39 best audiences, and 43 of the 50 best were achieved by football programmes.

The best TV audience of the year 2017 was achieved during extra-time (between 22:35 and 23:12 CET) in the Champions League quarter-final second leg match, Real Madrid CF (LaLiga Santander) - FC Bayern Munich (Bundesliga) (4-2 a.e.t., Real Madrid qualified 6-3 on aggregate), on 18/04/2017, which drew an average of 10.01 million viewers in Spain, on the free private TV channel Antena 3 (Atresmedia Group), with an audience share of 46.7%.

The best TV audience of 2016 was recorded during the penalty shoot-out of the final of the 2015-16 Champions League, Real Madrid (LaLiga Santander) - Atlético de Madrid (LaLiga Santander) (1-1, 5-3 on penalties), which drew 11.64 million viewers. Audience share: 62.3%
