France: football missing in the Top 10 French TV audiences 2017, World Handball final placed fifth

France - Luxembourg (0-0), a qualifying match for the 2018 World Cup, drew an average of 8.043 million viewers (audience share: 31.9%) on the private, free-TV channel TF1 on Sunday 03/09/2017, was the 11^th best audience of the year 2017 (and the best for a football match), according to data from the French audience measurement institute Médiamétrie.

France - Norway (33-26), the final of the 2017 World Handball Championships at the AccorHotels Arena (Paris, France), which drew an average of 8.67 million viewers (audience share: 43.6%), and the summary programme that followed the game and covered the presentation of the trophy, drew 8.3 million viewers, (audience share: 34.5%), on Sunday 29/01/2017, constituted the fifth and sixth best TV audiences of the year in 2017. These are the only audiences related to a sporting event present in the top 10 best TV audiences of the year. In total, sport represented 11 (all broadcast on TF1) of the 100 best TV audiences in France in 2017.
