France: refereee T. Chapron suspended until further notice, summoned to the Disciplinary Committee

"The Technical Committee for Refereeing of the FFF and the Federal Committee of Referees took the decision for the withdrawal of Mr. Tony Chapron, initially appointed as referee for the Angers SCO - ESTAC Troyes game for Matchday 21 of the 2017-18 Ligue 1 Conforama, on Wednesday 17/01/2018 (kick-off at 19:00 CET), and Mr. Tony Chapron will be suspended until further notice. Mr Tony Chapron will be received by the Disciplinary Committee of the LFP," announced the refereeing committee of the FFF on 15/01/2018.

These decisions follow the actions of Tony Chapron during the FC Nantes - PSG game (0-1, Matchday 20 of the Ligue 1 Conforama) on Sunday 14/01/2018: after having fallen from incidental contact, Tony Chapron showed the Nantes player involved, Diego Carlos, a second yellow card and thus expulsion from the game. During his fall, Tony Chapron also appeared to try and kick the player (see photo), which the referee denied after the game, claiming to have slipped, before recognizing he may have comitted "an inappropriate gesture in a bad reflex", on 15/01/2018.
