Bundesliga: Bayern Munich want to open offices in China and New York (German press)

"We plan to open two offices abroad. One in China and one in New York," said Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, chairman of Bayern Munich (Bundesliga, Germany) in the German newspaper Horizont, on the 21/10/2013.

"We want to make Bayern Munich an internationally-known brand and increase revenue from merchandising and sponsorship," explained Rummenigge, who is also president of the ECA (European Club Association).

He said Bayern achieved a record turnover of over €400 million in the fiscal year 2013 (01/07/2012 - 30/06/2013), up 20% compared to 2012 (€332 million), in an interview with U.S. channel Bloomberg on the 07/10/2013. Final figures will be announced on the 13/11/2013, at the general meeting of the club.

"All our departments, and especially merchandising, sponsorship and ticket sales, have reached record levels not seen before," Rummenigge said on the 07/10/2013.

"If we reach our sporting goals (in 2013-14), especially in the Champions League, I think we can expect to further increase our sales and profits," said the president, whose club were winners of the 2012 -13 Champions League, in…
