Eredivisie: Russian Alexander Chigirinskiy becomes owner of Vitesse Arnhem

Russian Alexander Chigirinskiy has become the owner of Dutch club Vitesse Arnhem, on the 22/10/2013. He bought out former majority shareholder, Georgian Merab Jordania, who acquired the club on the 16/08/2010 and retains his position as president.

Betaald Voetbal Stichting (Professional Football Foundationl) Vitesse Arnhem will remain the owner of its "priority share" that gives it control of "special rights" of the club, like the name, colour, and location of infrastructure, in order to "ensure the continuity and sustainability of Vitesse."

"When I arrived in Arnhem, I said that I could count on Alexander Chigirinskiy. I feel that today is a good time to give hand over the club to him and I'm happy to do so when the club is in such good shape (6^th place in the Eredivisie after 10 games in 2013/14, 4^th at the end of the 2012/13 season)", said Merab Jordania, on the 22/10/2013.
