Serie A TIM: TV rights bids below the floor price of €1.05bn per season, negotiations to continue

The total of the bids for the domestic audiovisual rights to the Serie A TIM for the 2018-2021 period did not reach the floor price of €1.05bn set by Lega Serie A. "The total of the highest offers received for the packages were less than €800m per season," according to multiple Italian press outlets on 22/01/2018. The Lega Serie A, therefore, did not allocate any of the five lots proposed on 06/01/2018 (see details below) for which the interested broadcasters had until 22/01/2018 (13:00 CET) to submit bids.

The Italian League received offers from five operators (Sky Italia, Mediaset, TIM, Perform Group, and Italian Way), but only Sky Italia's offers on Lots A and C (see below), €261m and €170m, respectively, exceeded the floor prices (€260m and €160m) according to Italian press.

The Lega Serie A has decided to enter into private negotiations with the interested broadcasters for lots that did not reach the floor price. A new meeting is scheduled for Friday 26/01/2018, to discuss the governance of the Lega Serie A (at 11:00 CET) and the audiovisual rights (at 15:00).
