France: immediate termination of the LFP - GoalControl contract "without compensation"

"Given the numerous anomalies in the solution provided by GoalControl, we have agreed to immediately terminate the contract by mutual agreement, without any legal action or compensation," wrote Didier Quillot, CEO of the LFP, in a mail addressed to the members of the board of directors of the French League, on 23/01/2018.

This announcement follows the failures of goal-line technology that occurred in two of the quarter-finals of Coupe de la Ligue on 10/01/2018. During the Amiens SC - Paris Saint-Germain (0-2) game, the referee's watch did not vibrate at the time of Adrien Rabiot's goal, while during the Angers SCO - Montpellier HSC (0- 1) game, the watch of referee vibrated at a time when the ball had not crossed the goal-line.

"A call for tenders will be launched in early February (2018) to choose a new provider to provide goal-line technology (GLT). We will present the results of this call for tenders to the board of directors on 21/03/2018," announced Didier Quillot.
