The British bank Barclays, title sponsor of the Premier League, will provide fans with a free bus until the end of the 2015-16 season.

The initiative, launched at the Liverpool - Crystal Palace game on the 03/10/2013 (3-1, match-day 7) is to "thank the supporters who follow their team across the country". Eighty Crystal Palace supporters were bussed to Liverpool on the first day of the 'Barclays Busses' scheme.

During the trip, Barclays supply the fans with food, beverage, entertainment and videos. On the journey to Liverpool, former England striker Ian Wright, who began his career at Crystal Palace (1985-1991), joined the travelling fans.

"If anyone deserves this, it's the away fans, because they are so loyal. They’re the ones who are really suffering on those long trips back home when their team has played badly and they’re left completely gutted; a bad result spoils their weekend, it can ruin their whole week. But although it hurts them, they are the ones who will come back and do it again next week: that loyalty deserves some form of repayment", he said.
