France: TF1 and M6 to broadcast France matches alternately excluding the World Cup (2018-2022)

The French private free-TV groups TF1 and M6 have acquired the broadcasting rights to matches of the France men's national team (excluding the World Cup), for the 2018-2022 period on 24/01/2018.

The two groups will broadcast, alternately, the qualification matches of the French national team for Euro 2020 and the 2022 World Cup, as well as their Nations League matches and friendlies. TF1 and M6 would pay €140m (€70m each) for forty matches, or €3.5m per game, according to French media, an amount equivalent to the current (2014-2018) contract signed by TF1 (€35m for 10 matches per year).

In addition to the matches of 'Les Blues', the two groups will also broadcast alternately the best game (excluding the French national team) for the competitions listed above, 22 matches in total for each of the two groups.

Beyond the broadcasting of matches, the new agreement includes "privileged access to the French team, its players and coach, as well as exclusive content," for both groups.
