Italy: Rai acquires one match per round of the Champions League (2018-2021) from Sky Italia

The Italian public broadcaster Rai has acquired, for Italy, via sub-license from Sky Italia, the exclusive TV rights for one match per round of the Champions League for the 2018-2021 period, on 25/01/2018. Rai will broadcast, free-to-air, a match involving an Italian team on Wednesday night, in the 21:00 CET time slot.

"The agreement also includes the two semi-finals, the final, and the UEFA Super Cup, (meaning) the return of the to European club competition on Rai, six years after the last match broadcast was, the 2011-12 final, FC Bayern Munich - Chelsea FC (1-1, 3-4 on penalties)," said Rai.

Sky Italia acquired all the audiovisual rights, for Italy, to the Champions League and the Europa League for the 2018-2021 period, on 14/06/2017. The amount paid by the Italian pay-TV group could be between €270m and €290m per year.
