Lega Serie A: Mediapro offers €950m/year, no TV rights have been awarded, negotiations continue

The Lega Serie A has not awarded any of the five lots proposed on 06/01/2018 (see details below) for the domestic audiovisual rights to the Serie A TIM for the 2018-2021 period, following private negotiations between operators and the Italian League between 22 and 26/01/2018.

The Lega Serie A received an offer of €630m from Sky Italia for four lots (A, C, D1, and D2) and an offer of €200 million from Mediaset for Lot B, for a total of €830m. The Lega Serie A also received an offer, reserved for "independent intermediaries", of €950m from Mediapro for all of the lots. Mediapro proposed to create a television channel for the Italian League, which would then sell its programming to different operators. In the event of income higher than €1.1bn per year, Mediapro would pay half of its revenues to the league. The 20 Serie A clubs have until 05/02/2018 to decide if they can accept the offer from Mediapro, or if they should relaunch the bidding process.
