DFB: Wolfgang Niersbach re-elected president of the German association

Wolfgang Niersbach has been re-elected as president of the DFB (German Football Association) at the 41st General Assembly of the Association in Nuremberg on the 25/10/2013. As the only candidate, the German was elected unanimously (259 voters) for a term of three years, until 2016. Niersbach became the eleventh DFB president since replacing Theo Zwanziger on the 02/03/2012.

"I am delighted with the clear result and the trust shown to me", said the president of the association on the 25/10/2013. It is great to have the full backing of all national and regional federations and for me it is a nod to continue down the road we started. This proves that we are on the right path. I sincerely believe in the unity in football".

Wolfgang Niersbach joined the DFB as media director in 1988. He served as vice-chairman of the organising committee of the 2006 World Cup, held in Germany.
