Premier League: Tottenham's new stadium could accommodate an NFL franchise

Tottenham Hotspur (Premier League) are studying the possibility of sharing their new stadium with an NFL franchise (American National Football League), announced several British newspapers, on the 27/10/2013. The club hopes to start construction in June 2014.

They plan to build a 56,000-seat stadium located on the site of the current White Hart Lane Stadium (36,200 seats) which would be demolished. The cost is estimated at €471 million. The urban project also provides for the creation of a new school, hundreds of homes and a shopping center.

The Populous architectural firm were commissioned (06/09/2013) to provide a model to compete with the plan unveiled in 2008 by the KSS firm. Populous will study the possibility of tailoring the stadium to meet NFL standards. The stadium could then offer a capacity of 65,000 seats, the minimum required by the league. The franchise would facilitate the financing, but also the profitability of the site.
