IOC: IMG acquires broadcast rights for airplanes and ships for the 2018 and 2020 Olympic Games

The media rights and marketing agency IMG has acquired the broadcasting rights for the Pyeongchang 2018 Winter Olympics and the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics for airplanes and ships, from the IOC on 25/01/2018. These rights are not valid for the United States.

IMG will offer these competitions via its Sport 24 and Sport 24 Extra channels. IMG launched Sport 24 Extra, a second live sports channel for the air market on 01/06/2016. "For the first time, the agreement also covers content from the Olympic Channel, which IMG will license to airlines and cruise ships and show on Sport 24. IMG has worked previously with the IOC to distribute live coverage from Rio 2016 and Sochi 2014 to inflight and inship audiences worldwide," said IMG, who also holds the rights to the Olympic Channel, and held the rights for planes and ships to the Rio 2016 Summer Olympics and the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics.
