Kwesé, a subsidiary of the South African audiovisual group Econet Media, and the pay-TV group Canal+ Afrique, have acquired, for sub-Saharan Africa, the broadcast rights to the competitions of the French LFP for six seasons (2018-2024), via license from the pay-TV group beIN Media Group, on 05/02/2018.

"Canal+ (French language) and Kwesé (English and Portuguese languages) have acquired the TV rights to the Ligue 1 Conforama for all of sub-Saharan Africa. The agreement will also include the broadcast of Domino's Ligue 2 and the Coupe de la Ligue in all territories, reinforcing the reputation of the French leagues in sub-Saharan Africa," said the LFP which has obtained "a significant increase in rights".

The two broadcasters will jointly pay €33m per year for the new agreement, versus €13m per year currently, according to the French sports daily L'Équipe on 03/02/2018.

"We are confident that these agreements are just the beginning of a series of new partnerships" (Y. Al-Obaidly, beIN)
