LaLiga Santander: Euskaltel (telecom) main shirt sponsor of Real Sociedad until June 2018

Euskaltel, a Spanish telecommunications operator, has expanded its partnership with Real Sociedad SAD (LaLiga Santander) by becoming the Basque club's main shirt sponsor until the end of the 2017-18 season, on 31/01/2018.

Euskaltel succeeds Qbao.com, a Chinese mobile platform specialised in online trading and financial services, which had been Real Sociedad's main shirt sponsor since 2014-15, for an estimated €1.5m in 2017-18.

The contract, which ran initially until 2019-20, was suspended by the Basque club on 29/12/2017, following the arrest, the day before, of Zhang Xiaolei the CEO of Qbao, by the Nanjing police, as part of an investigation for pyramid selling and fraud.

Euskaltel, whose headquarters are in the Spanish Basque Country, are also extending their partnership and technological support of the San Sebastián club for three years, until 31/01/2021. As part of this extended partnership, Euskaltel will become the main shirt sponsor of the women's Real Sociedad team, whose first team plays in the Liga Femenina Iberdrola.
