Twitter: 67.5 million followers in total for the 20 LaLiga Santander clubs (February 2018)

The 20 clubs involved in the 2017-18 LaLiga Santander season have a cumulative 67.57 million followers on the social network Twitter, according to data recorded by News Tank Football on 01/02/2018. The result makes LaLiga Santander the second most popular Top 5 European league on Twitter, with an average of 3.38 million followers per club behind the Premier League (3.52 million).

Real Madrid CF are the most followed LaLiga Santander club with 28.9 million followers, ahead of FC Barcelona (27.3 million). The two Spanish clubs are the only clubs in Europe to be able to claim more than 25 million followers (only the main account is taken into account), and together accumulate 83.2% of the total followers of the LaLiga Santander clubs, as well as more followers between them than the 58 clubs of the Serie A TIM, the Ligue 1 Conforama, and the Bundesliga combined (56.2 million followers versus 51.16 million).

Both Levante UD and Villarreal CF experienced an exceptionally strong percentage growth during January 2018 with 24.5% and 17.2% additional subscribers respectively.
