Juventus have sanction of partially closed stadium for territorial discrimination suspended

The Disciplinary Committee of Serie A has imposed a suspended sentence of one match with partially closed stadium, on Juventus for territorial discrimination, on the 28/10/2013. The suspended sanction orders them to close a specific section of their stadium, following incendiary chanting by Juventus fans directed at Napoli supporters, during the Juventus vs Genoa (2-0) match on the 27/10/2013. Napoli and Genoa fans belong to the same group.

The penalty is subject to a probationary period of one year, and covers two tiers of the south stand of the Juventus Stadium. "The songs were sung with one voice in the south Curva stand and started on the central area, where the culprits were located", said the statement from the Disciplinary Committee.

The FIGC (Italian Football Federation) since the 16/10/2013 have integrated in to their sanctions the notion of suspension or rather probation, in cases of discrimination: the penalty will apply automatically if the same offence which caused the original conviction is committed in the twelve months which follow.
