Jamal Malinzi was elected president of the TFF (Tanzania Football Federation) by the General Assembly of the Federation, on the 27/10/2013, for a term of four years, until 2017.

He obtained 73 votes against 53 for outgoing vice-president Athumani Nyamlani. He replaces Leodegar Tenga, who had been in office since 2005.

"The protracted campaign is over. It is time now to work together to develop football," said Jamal Malinzi on the 27/10/2013. "I thank FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association) for intervening, now I am president because they took action to protect my rights and to safeguard the interests of Tanzanian football," he added. The application of Jamal Malinzi was refused by the TFF in February 2013 for a lack of experience in managing the affairs of the Federation, before being reinstalled by FIFA.

"I will focus on the development of football, renovating stadiums and training facilities and the improvement of management standards in the country," said the new president of the Tanzania Federation.
