LaLiga Santander: clubs spent €311m during the transfer window 2018 (versus €18m in 2017)

LaLiga and the Spanish sports marketing agency Prime Time Sport have published the Winter 2018 edition of the "Football Transfer Review" report, which analyzes the movements of LaLiga Santander players during the 2018 winter transfer period by comparing them with those recorded in the other European Top 5 leagues (Germany, England, France, and Italy), on 13/02/2018.

Spanish clubs sent €311m during the 2018 winter transfer window, compared to a spend of €18m in 2017 (17.2 times more). The Premier League was the European Top 5 league which spent the most, with €476m in transfer fees paid by the English clubs. LaLiga Santander was the league with the largest net spend at €141m (€311m in expenditure and €170m in transfer revenue).

The investments made by LaLiga clubs during the 2017-18 season (€867m in total, summer+winter) were "almost twice that of the previous season and the highest in history by far, which confirms the potential of LaLiga," said LaLiga.
