Bundesliga: "We want to generate capital in the league, from a shared interest" (K. Filbry, Werder)

"We need a fair playing field with equal rights for all. We want to generate capital in the league, but the capital must come from a shared interest to strengthen the league and its respective clubs. We are not looking for financial investors who only see the development of their own money, but strategic partners of the association. These are the things that make football strong in Germany," said Klaus Filbry, the CEO of SV Werder Bremen (Bundesliga), about potential reform of the so-called "50+1" rule (see below) in German professional football, to the German magazine kicker on 25/02/2018.

"It starts with the fan culture, the standing area, which must be preserved, and ranges from moderate entrance fees up to the stipulated location and maintaining of club badges and colours. Everyone must be wary of who they are inviting into their house," added Klaus Filbry. 

There should not be "a complete abolition or complete preservation of the present (50+1) regulation, but an adjustment of it, as it interferes too much with the legally anchored autonomy of the clubs. (A revision of the rule…
