China's PPTV to stream the Scottish Professional Football League until 2023

China's live online sports streaming provider PPTV have acquired the broadcast rights in China to the SPFL (Scottish Professional Football League) until the end of the 2022-23 season, Scotland's First Minister Alex Salmond announced the 04/11/2013.

The deal with PPTV is part of a £20m (€23.7m) 10-year international agreement between the SPFL and marketing and media rights agency MP & Silva, who are the exclusive holders of the SPFL's broadcast rights in the Middle East, North Africa and Asia for the 2013-2023 period.

Under the terms of the agreement, PPTV will screen 58 live SPFL matches in China each season. The Chinese online pay-TV provider announced it had acquired the broadcast rights to 55 SPFL fixtures for the remainder of the 2013-14 season, on the 11/10/2013.

PPTV has 260 to 300 million individual users per month in China. Season 2013-14 fixtures will be broadcast online to 60 million users, according to the SPFL. It is the first time that Scottish football has been broadcast in China.
