Tax evasion: Ulrich Hoeness, president of Bayern Munich, will be judged in March 2014

Ulrich Hoeness, president of Bayern Munich (Bundesliga) will stand trial in March 2014 for tax evasion, announced a Munich court on the 04/11/2013. The first hearing will be held on the 10/03/2014. The German leader was indicted for tax evasion and released on bail on the 20/03/2013. He admitted to tax authorities in January 2013, that he held a Swiss bank account which held several million euro of unpaid taxes in it.

"The Fifth Chamber of the High Court of Munich, by decision of the 31/10/2013, have opened a hearing on the basis of the complaint by the city of Munich against Ulrich Hoeness for acts of tax fraud," indicated the court. Four days of hearings were announced from the 10 to the 13/03/2014. "For now, the hearing has scheduled four witnesses," said the court.

"The board is of the unanimous opinion that Uli Hoeness shall remain in his position even with a trial being set," said the supervisory board of the Bavarian club, which includes Herbert Hainer, CEO of Adidas, Martin Winterkorn, CEO of Volkswagen and Rupert Stadler, CEO of Audi.
