2.Bundesliga: Duisburg auctions the water bottle from keeper blunder to benefit association

MSV Duisburg (2.Bundesliga) have organised an auction for the benefit of zebrakids eV, the club's association that helps children with social difficulties in the Duisburg (GER) region, from 27/02 to 04/03/2018.

The only auctioned lot is goalkeeper Mark Flekken's water bottle, sponsored by Sinalco, a German non-alcoholic beverage producer and exclusive partner (fouth level) of MSV Duisburg. The image of the water bottle and the club's goalkeeper went around the world after the MSV Duisburg - FC Ingolstadt game (2-1, Matchday 24 of the 2.Bundesliga) on 24/02/2018.

During the match, Flekken conceded an equalizer as he walked back towards his goal, believing that his team had scored at the other end of the pitch to make it 2-0. However, unfortunately for Duisburg, the goal had been disallowed and FC Ingolstadt were able to counter and score while Flekken, with his back turned, took a drink from his bottle, unaware of the attack. The video of the goal has been viewed several hundred thousand times on YouTube since 24/02/2018.
