Serie A TIM: 50% of TV rights will be divided equally, instead of 40%, from 2018-19

"Starting from the next championship (2018-19 Serie A TIM), the share of TV rights to be divided equally will be increased from 40% to 50%, and the rest will be allocated on the basis of precise and measurable criteria," said Luca Lotti, Italian Sports Minister, on 01/03/2018.

The Sports Minister said he signed the decree on the new criteria for awarding audiovisual rights of the Serie A, amending the Melandri law of 01/02/2008, which frames the negotiations and the redistribution of TV rights of the Italian league, on 03/01/2018.

The ratio of the audiovisual rights in the Serie A (ratio between the club which receives the most and one that receives the least) should go from 4 in 2017-18 (4.69 in 2015-16 according to the Italian media) to 3 in 2018-19 with the new amendment, according to Luca Lotti.
