MSV Duisburg: goalkeeper's water bottle sold for €2,000 for the benefit of an association

The water bottle of MSV Duisburg's (2.Bundesliga) goalkeeper Mark Flekken, who conceded a goal as he quenched his thirst during a match against FC Ingolstadt (2-1, Matchday 24 of the 2.Bundesliga, on 24/02/2018), has been sold by the German club to employees of KROHNE Messtechnik GmbH on 05/03/2018.

Employees of the company, a fifth-level partner of MSV Duisburg, raised the sum of €1619.02 (1902 being the year the club was founded), which was the highest bid of the auction organised from 27/02 to 04/03/2018. Flekken added €380.98 himself and the total sum of €2,000 was donated to zebrakids eV, an association of the club that helps children in social difficulties children with social difficulties in the Duisburg (GER) region.

"It's amazing, unbelievable, to everyone who participated in this auction, a big thank you for turning my mistake into such a great story. The work that zebrakids achieves with so much passion is very, very important. It was therefore particularly important for me to support this action," said Mark Flekken.
