FIFA : Joseph Blatter wants removal of play-off qualifiers for the World Cup

"The play-offs are a source of passion, emotion and drama, as some teams will be eliminated after two matches. I think it's good for television, for the show, but we need to try to find a solution where at the end of the qualification you are in or out and not this playoff," said Joseph Blatter, president of FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association), on the 05/11/2013.

"Of course, they give more intensity, but for teams that are eliminated in this way, it's difficult," said the president of the international Federation on FIFA.com.

21 teams have already qualified for the World Cup in Brazil (12/06 to 13/07/2014). The last 11 teams will be decided by the play-offs: five in Africa, four in Europe, and between two from different continents.
