"UEFA and its Executive Committee can look back with satisfaction on a year when stability returned to European football’s governing body after a delicate and challenging previous period. The Executive Committee took a series of farsighted decisions that set the course for a fresh new era, while never losing sight of its duty to consolidate UEFA’s mission to safeguard European football’s overall wellbeing," said UEFA presenting the report of the president and executive committee and administration, at the Bratislava (SVK) congress on 26/02/2018.

"Aleksander Ceferin, president of the Football Association of Slovenia since 2011, was elected (on 14/09/2016) as UEFA’s seventh president by the body’s 55 member associations. The new president came into office with a clear vision for the future, which focused on the further protection, promotion and development of European football, putting the game first and safeguarding its interests," added UEFA.
