Scotland: David Somers appointed non-executive director and acting chairman of Glasgow Rangers

David Somers has been appointed non-executive director and acting chairman of Glasgow Rangers (Scottish 3^rd Division), the club announced on the 07/11/2013. The chairman's role had been vacant since the departure of Walter Smith on the 06/08/2013.

He will oversee the process of appointing a new CEO and an additional director to form a board of directors in order to unify and ensure the stability of the club. This procedure will take place at the annual general meeting of the club, on the 19/12/2013.

After the successive departures of Walter Smith (former chairman, 06/08/2013), Ian Hart (non-executive director, 10/10/2013), Craig Mather (former director general, 16/10/2013) and Bryan Smart (non-executive director, 16/10/2013), Brian Stockbridge (CFO) and James Easdale (non-executive director) remained the only two members of the Rangers board.
