MLS: partnership with Liga Bancomer MX to bring together the two North American leagues

Major League Soccer and Liga Bancomer MX have announced a partnership which will consist of the organisation of the "Campeones Cup", a match between the winning clubs of each of the leagues, an All-Star game which will bring together the best players of the leagues and "a sharing of best business practices," announced MLS, on 13/03/2018.

"The alliance, bringing together the three nations (Canada, United States and Mexico) involved in the United 2026 FIFA World Cup hosting bid, will focus on creating new competition to fuel the rivalry between the countries on the field as well as sharing best practices and prioritising social responsibility efforts," said MLS.

"Besides the rivalry that we have in CONCACAF, which we'll still be having, the main issue is to give the best of each league so we can have better football, a better show so that the fans that we have naturally here in the States and in Mexico can be added with new ones. The only way that we can have new fans, the only way that we can grow, is joining and giving the best of each league to the benefit of football," said…
