adidas: turnover of €21.2bn (+14.8%) and operating profit up by 31% to €2.07bn in 2017

adidas Group posted a turnover of €21.2bn during the financial year 2017 (from 01/01 to 31/12/2017), up 14.8% compared to 2016 (€18.5bn), announced the German equipment manufacturer on 14/03/2018. Excluding the impact of the discontinued operations (see elsewhere), the adidas Group's revenues increased by 10% between 2016 (€19.3bn) and 2017.

The adidas brand counted for 89.5% of the group's sales, almost €19bn in 2017. The "footwear" category, which accounts for 58.6% of the group's overall turnover, experienced the best percentage increase (+22.6%) between 2016 (€10.1bn) and 2017 (€12.4bn).

Western Europe is adidas' largest market with a turnover of €5.9bn, or 27.7% of the group's total turnover, ahead of North America (€4.3bn, 20.1%) and China (€3.8bn, 17.9%). These three markets also experienced the strongest growth in 2017: +25.9% in China (as well as in Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan), +25.3 in North America and +11.2% in Western Europe.
