eSport: NHL launches competition, NHL Gaming World Championship, in partnership with EA Sports

NHL has announced, in partnership with US video game publisher EA Sports, the creation of an international eSports tournament, the 2018 NHL Gaming World Championship, on the EA Sports NHL 18 ice hockey video game, on 09/03/2018. Players can register via FACEIT, the official platform of the competition.

Qualifiers will be held online in the United States (organised by the NBC Sports television group), in Canada (organised by the Sportsnet Sports TV channel group) and in the European Union (organised by the television group Viasat, subsidiary of Modern Times Group), between 24/03 and 14/04/2018 (see details below). The grand finale in Las Vegas (USA) will take place on 19/06/2018.

"These three regional events will offer fans unique content which will be available on NHL and broadcast partners' digital platforms and the NHL's Twitch (video and eSports streaming platform) channel," said the hockey league.
