Lega Serie A: Gaetano Miccichè elected president, Giovanni Malago manages the change in governance

Gaetano Miccichè has been unanimously elected as president of the Lega Serie A by acclamation of the 20 clubs, according to the Italian League on 19/03/2018. Miccichè becomes the second president of the body since its inception on 01/07/2010 (separation of the Serie A - Serie B), after Maurizio Beretta from 2010 to 27/03/2017.

For nearly a year, the Lega Serie A, after failing to appoint a new president, was headed by the extraordinary commissioner, Carlo Tavecchio, who is also president of the FIGC, from 21/04/2017 to 29/01/2018, then Giovanni Malago, also president of CONI, since 01/02/2018. The mandate of the extraordinary commissioner will end with the reconstitution of the Lega Serie A authorities (designation of a managing director and advisers), implemented by 01/08/2018, declared the Italian Federation on 01/02/2018.
