Champions League: 29 matches and multiplex to be broadcast on Sky, 101 on DAZN in Germany (2018-21)

The German pay-TV group Sky Deutschland will broadcast at least 29 matches in Germany (see details below) per season of the Champions League as well as multiplexes for the 2018-2021 cycle, according to German media reports on 15/03/2018. Sky Deutschland acquired the full broadcasting rights for all platforms, of the UEFA Champions League, for Germany and Austria, for the 2018-2021 cycle on 13/06/2017.

The British group Perform, specialised in the production and distribution of sports content on digital platforms, which acquired some of the matches from Sky by sub-license, is expected to broadcast 101 matches per season on its OTT sports platform DAZN. Perform and Sky Deutschland would pay €600m in TV rights for the 2018-2021 cycle of the Champions League for Germany (+66.7%), according to the US business website Bloomberg on 19/05/2017.

During the group stage, Sky will broadcast 12 games (one per day) live and exclusively, including 9 first choice matches, as well as a multiplex during each matchday, while DAZN will broadcast 84 live games (including 3 first choices). During the…
