Switzerland: 67 international sports organisations represent €3.8 billion revenue

3.8 billion euro, that is the amount of income generated in 2011 by the 67 international sports organisations based in Switzerland, according to a study released on the 12/11/2013 by the Swiss research institute Rütter + Partner, as commissioned by FIFA (Federation Internationale de Football Association).

These organisations employ a total of 1,770 people (full-time equivalents or FTEs). The largest employer is UEFA (Union of European Football Associations), headquartered in Nyon (Vaud), which alone accounts for 25% of these employees. Next is the IOC (International Olympic Committee), based in Lausanne (Vaud) with 22%, followed by FIFA, based in Zurich (canton of Zurich), with 18%.

The 67 international authorities in 2011 generated a gross value added (obtained by deducting intermediate consumption of gross product, which measures the contribution to the Swiss GDP) of around €1.18 billion, and they induced the creation of 8,040 jobs (FTEs) in Switzerland.

UEFA, the IOC and FIFA account for 75% of the gross value added (€892 million) and 72% of jobs (5,820 FTEs).
